Bio
James Johnson
James (Acey) Johnson is a dynamic bass player, producer, and songwriter based in Clayton, North Carolina. Growing up in the vibrant music scene of Brooklyn, New York during the 1970s and 1980s, he developed a distinctive sound that fuses smooth jazz, soul, and gospel influences into emotionally resonant contemporary R&B/soul ballads.
His faith-centered lyrics and polished, retro-inspired production shine in projects like the album Love & Faith, a collection of romantic, wisdom-filled love songs designed for all generations. Acey's collaborations with luminaries such as Greg Williams of S.W.I.T.C.H., jazz vocalist Eleanor Mills, and Sharon Jones of the Dap-Kings underscore his versatility and deep roots in the industry.
Today, as founder of Epitome1 and a leader in community reentry programs, he channels his artistry through sites for music sales, fan engagement, and digital promotion—blending creative passion with purpose-driven impact.
